I freaked myself out
I got a job, I guess I already mentioned that last time. Well, I am part of the marketing department of a Catering service. What I do is call the companies to offer our food and services and I am the person of inquiry when customers need infos. That basically is what I do after school, and every Wednesday. (I hate going on Wednesdays ‘coz that is my free day, and instead of playing FF5, I got to bore myself over the telephone, being hanged-up by some gits who doesn’t know what hospitality means.)
But last Friday, Dec.19, I got to be part of the REAL catering service. We went to Pasig Tennis Court and service to the Tennis Club’s Xmas party. Man, that’s what action means. That’s what JOB means for me -- being on the field, instead of speaking on the phone, trying to give that sweet, patient voice. I became the Assistant Coordinator, meaning that I would only look after everything, like the food, the service of the waiters, decides on some problems, and the like. Cool. I also have this uniform, black slacks (it should be slacks, but of course, being the rule-breaker that I am, I did not wear slacks) and white polo-shirt (I really am a rule-breaker…) and black leather shoes (that I obeyed). Although not in proper uniform (hehe..), I still have to change my clothes into something that would look a little formal. That’s where this story revolves.
I came to the tennis court wearing maong pants and red shirt. The visitors were not yet there ‘coz it’s only 4pm, and the party would start at 7pm. We (me, Kuya Carlo the Coordinator, and 4 waiters--all became friends with me afterwards) stalled our time by checking and preparing some things. When it’s already 6pm, Kuya Carlo asked us to change to our uniforms. I went to the ladies’ CR, but it’s locked, so we asked the management to open it ‘coz I need to go in there (there’s no way im gonna change clothes inside the guys’ CR like they’re telling me to). And then this creepy guy opened the lock for me and told me in a low, creepy voice, “You know why it’s locked? Coz there’s a ghost that appears in there.” I just stared at him as he opened the door and switched on the light, then he looked at me one last time and waved ‘good luck.’ I hesitantly entered the CR and closed the door behind me. I was so scared, I can’t step any further, so I just pushed my back on the wall, hugged my clothes and looked around me. The CR sure looked creepy. At the far end of the room were 2 shower rooms, then one cubicle, and then there were two dressing rooms. There’s also a full-view mirror, and a ceiling fan that created that creepy sound. Suddenly, I remembered
(stupid brain! Acting at times when it doesn’t need to!) one toilet scene from “The Grudge” where a Sadako wanna-be slowly walked outside one of the cubicles with her long black hair and everything. And then I imagined her creeping out from the cubicle inside the CR where I am…oh God…I almost felt like crying, and did the most sensible thing to do at that moment -- I ran outside. When they saw me running, looking like shit, they asked what happened and I told them what the creepy guy told me. As a reply. I got a barrage of
IT’S NOT TRUEs,
HE’S LYINGs,
IT’S ONLY A JOKEs, and all those boosters they could think of. One waiter (his name’s Jocel I think, I couldn’t remember) told me that he’d just stand outside the door, and I should scream if I need to. Okay, that helped a bit. Well, I got no other option. (there was another, but that’s going inside the guy’s CR, and I don’t want to, so I guess that’s not really an option) I blocked my mind from trying to think of scary things and hurriedly dressed.
Whooh *big intake and release of breath* I was so scared, really, really scared, and at last, im out in the open. When I saw the creepy guy again, he laughed and told his fat friend that I was a
SCAREDY CAT. I just smirked at them, thinking to myself “You are sooo dead when fate gives us another chance to meet.” That’s the last time I saw him the whole night. Good thing. Stupid bastard glowing on his own gitiness!
